Pomodoro method is a time management and work management technique that helps to decrease the mental fatigue and improve focus and concentration over.
This techniques iis developed by the Francesco Cirillo.
How this technique work?
So, first select the task or work, study. What task you need to focus on.
Then, you have to set time limit of 25 minute for this particular task. Like if you are a student, then you will study 25 minutes at first.
Then you will take a short 5 or 10 minute break thereafter, again you will study for 25 minutes and then take a break.
So, there will be 4 cycle you will continue of, then you will take a quite long break, that is 15 to 30 minutes.
This way, you will able to remove the inertial fear and anxiety to start the work, and also reduce the mental fatigue and long working boredom. Your mind is relaxed even if you were doing boring work.
Sometimes it tend to be disturbing. So, on a personal suggestion, i suggest you to change the time of task and break as per your need or comfort level.
So, by doing this you will able to manage productivity without getting overburden and also relaxed from time to time even in long working time.
Positive side of Pomodoro Method
- This method helps you to work deeper within those period of time by eliminating all the distraction
- It also helps to manage or complete larger work by completing it smaller intervals
- It prevents your burnout occuring when you work more time, then resulting in less productive work or sometimes uncomplete work
- It create a psychological sense of urgency that helps to avoid procrastinatation and overcome the initial inertia to get started to work
While there are some limitations of this method, that are mentioned below,
- So first, this is for the smaller level task or long task. For work related to research, or any critical task, that need deep focus may get distracted by this method. If you want to practise in such case, then you can increase the timing of break, this way you can manage this.
- Individual differences occur, as some people feel 25 minutes are too less. It depend on individual style of work. Some people find difficult to come back after first break. So, one has to disciplined enough to practise it properly.
- Not all, but some people can feel pressure while working that sometimes reduce their 100 percent involvement in the task, lead to constant waiting for break.
For this people, i would suggest you can work 1 hour then take 20 minute break and then again work for 1 hour this way, you will work longer and feel better with quite rest time.
This method works best for the students, professionals who need to work in a discipline and proper manner.
