Ohm Law

Ohms law is law of current, it state that, a current flowing from the conductor is directly proportional (dependent) on the voltage and inversely proportional to resistance.

Ohms law = voltage / resistance

It means, that any material that passed current like copper, aluminium, silver. So, the amount of current it will allow to pass is depend on the voltage and resistance.

Voltage is the applied pressure on the current, so when the pressure is high then high amount of current is passed.

Inversly, if resistance is high ex. narrow area then current will low. Example of resistance are bulb filament, electric heater coil etc.

Ohms Law Uses

Ohms law is most commonly used in calculating current, voltage and resistance when any two value is known.

This law helps in navigating and finding right amount of voltage, resistors to properly pass the current and avoid the light issues.

It also helps to accurately calculate how much amper of current can flow when applied certain voltage and resistance.

Example,

Calculate current, Batter voltage is 9V and bulb resistance is 3 Ω

Formula for calculating current is, I = V / R

I = 9 / 3

I = 3 Ampere

So, maximum 3 ampere of current can flow through this devices.

History of Ohms Law

Ohms law was formed by George Simon Ohm. He lives in germany, born on 1789.

By that time, scientist were aware about the batteries, current and voltage. But, they were not able to understand the relation between this. They guess and follow try and error theory for estimating the amount of current can flow in it.

But, George simon ohm, was interested in the electricity work, he keep experimenting on the batteries with different voltages, metal wires of differnet length and size. He measured different results in that. He notice some patterns in it.

He find out that, if a high voltage batteries allow for higher current to pass, and high resistance means low current is passing.

He further performed many experiements, and form this ohms law. So later, In 1827 he published this in Die Galvanische Kette, mathematisch bearbeitet (The Galvanic Circuit Investigated Mathamatically).

First his theory was not accepted, but later many scientist performed experiments and then realized theory was right. So, for his discovery this law is called as ohms law. This law is very helpful in accurately calculating current, voltage and the resistance. Management of electricity is become simple for the scientist and engineers.
