Blood is composed of plasma and blood cells (RBC, WBC and platelets).
Plasma of blood is slighly yellowish in color which makes up to the 55 percent of total blood volume.
Plasma is consist of 90 to 92 percent of water. Other 8 to 10 percent is consist of,
- Proteins
- Electrolytes
- Nutrients
- Hormones
- Waste products
This all are present in the blood plasma. They does various roles like maintainig blood pressure, osmosis, nutrients and hormones has their roles.
How does blood plasma formed?
So, first of all people drink water and eat food. The water content from this is absorbed in the blood from the digestive tract. Then, liver produces proteins, nutrients from digestive tracks, hormones and waste products enter into the blood stream and mix with plasma. So, further plasma carry them throughout the body and help to carry out multiple functions of the body.
Blood plasma functions
- Primary function is to transport all this materials to required body area via blood.
- It support body by providing nutrients, carrying antibodies and hormones for proper functioning of the body.
- It regulate body temperature due to high amount of water in it.
